Amelioration of Biogas Production from Waste-Activated Sludge through Surfactant-Coupled Mechanical Disintegration

نویسندگان

چکیده

The current study intended to improve the disintegration potential of paper mill sludge through alkyl polyglycoside-coupled disperser disintegration. biomass was fed and a maximum solubilization 6% attained at specific energy input 4729.24 kJ/kg TS. Solubilization further enhanced by coupling optimum condition with varying dosage polyglycoside. 11% suspended solid (SS) reduction 8.42% were achieved rpm, time, surfactant 12,000, 30 min, 12 μL. showed higher biogas production 125.1 mL/gCOD, compared disperser-alone (70.1 mL/gCOD) control (36.1 mL/gCOD).

Effect of Sludge Pre-Treatment Techniques on the Biogas Production from Waste Activated Sludge

Introduction There is a significant and inevitable fact in Turkey which is the “sludge problem” generated from the wastewater treatment plants. There are many sludge disposal techniques currently applied in Turkey such as incineration, landfilling, composting, etc.; but the disposal of sludge with those conventional methods is difficult and expensive, often requiring over 50 per cent of the ope...

Ultrasonic Disintegration of Sewage Sludge to Increase Biogas Generation

Renewable energy will play a key role in the future in limitation of greenhouse gas emissions, with particular focus on carbon dioxide. Biomass and waste are considered among the dominant renewable energy sources. Due to their availability on the energy resources market, it has potential to ensure permanent energy generation.1–3 According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), fossil fuels a...

Production of Biogas from Poultry Waste

It is inevitable that with large volume and high density poultry productions, there will be large quantities of poultry waste produced in Kathmandu and throughout Nepal. Poultry waste produced as the daily feeding of chicken both from broilers and layers in the country is largely used as organic manure for agricultural purposes. The poultry industry is growing day by day concentrated within the...

Ethanol and biogas production from waste fibre and fibre sludge – The FibreEtOH concept

The FibreEtOH concept was developed to tackle major challenges in the production of ethanol from lignocellulosics. The two feedstocks, waste fibre fractionated from solid recovered fuel, and pulp and paper mill fibre sludge, provide all-year-round supply of biomass with high hexose content (44e56%) and acceptable ash content (13e14%). They can be liquefied and hydrolysed by enzymes rapidly with...

Anaerobic treatment of activated sludge from Swedish pulp and paper mills--biogas production potential and limitations.

The methane potential of activated sludge from six Swedish pulp and paper mills was evaluated. The methane production potential of sludge samples ranged from 100-200 NmL CH4 g(-1) volatile solids (VS) and for four of the six sludge samples the potential exceeded 170 NmL CH4 g(-1) VS. The effects of sludge age and dewatering on the methane production potential were evaluated. The effects of enzy...
